A family history written in 1963 asserted that Hobart Spencer was married three times, and the third wife was Betsey Hazen. But with today’s access to digitalized documents, specifically town records and deeds, it was found that Hobart had a son named Hobart who lived to adulthood. The deeds further proved that Hobart Sr. was most likely married to Martha Farmer when he died and thus could not have married a third time.
